Welcome! I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Studies at Queen’s University and a Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Democracy and Diversity. I hold a Ph.D. in Politics and Social Policy from Princeton University. My ongoing work focuses on gender and sexuality in electoral and party politics in Canada, taken in comparative perspective. My approach is methodologically pluralist. I have used a range of qualitative and quantitative methods.

I am currently working on a book, tentatively entitled Gatekeeping: How and Why Insider Men Improve Women’s Representation. This book project is based on my PhD fieldwork studying candidate nominations in New Brunswick. In addition to this book project, I am currently working with various co-authors on LGBTQ2S+ politics, including (1) LGBTQ2S+ candidates and representation, (2) LGBTQ2S+ political behaviour, and (3) public opinion on LGBTQ2S+ rights.

I am currently interested in recruiting honours thesis, MA, and PhD students, and I am happy to discuss postdoctoral fellowships at Queen’s.
